Overview
FRONTIERS OF THE ARCTIC
Landing in Ny-Ålesund, a former coal mining town and one of the best places to spot a polar bear, you come to the last town before reaching the North Pole. Here you may also find along the shores or on the nearby horizon walrus, king eiders, puffins, guillemots and many other spectacular wildlife. Entering Svalbard, you come across diverse landscapes that include snow-capped mountain peaks, expansive glaciers and sweeping Arctic deserts. Amid the deep and ranging fjords of Greenland, you’ll find geological marvels, such as basalt mountains, that inspire a sense of awe. Possible landings in Greenland National Park, the largest in the world, bring you closer to narwhals, seals and other incredible animals. Stopping in Ittoqqortoormiit, you come to the Western Hemisphere’s most remote inhabited settlement.
